The purpose of this forum is to provide a place for members of The Black River Astronomical Society to blog, discuss upcoming meetings, cancel meeting, advertise their intent to go to the Nielson, etc. The Black River Astronomical Society has been bringing astronomy to, and serving Lorain County residents continuously since 1949.

Public Observing OPEN for Friday Oct 1st, 2021
We are OPEN for a public star party tonight, Friday Oct. 1, 2021 from 8:00-10:00 at the Nielsen Observatory. For a map and directions to the observatory, please go back to the home page of this website and click on the "Maps" tab. Jupiter and Saturn are well placed for observing tonight and look beautiful in our large telescopes, and the weather forecast looks unusually good, so we hope you can join us. Please park in the parking lot on the right and walk over to the observatory, as parking beside the building is restricted to members unloading telescopes and equipment. Also please watch for deer on the drive in and dress warmly, as the temps will be in the 50s tonight.
