The purpose of this forum is to provide a place for members of The Black River Astronomical Society to blog, discuss upcoming meetings, cancel meeting, advertise their intent to go to the Nielson, etc. The Black River Astronomical Society has been bringing astronomy to, and serving Lorain County residents continuously since 1949.

Public Observing OPEN on Friday Sept. 24,2021
We are OPEN for a public star party tonight, Friday September 24th 2021 from 9:00-11:00 PM at the Nielsen Observatory. The observatory is located at the Lorain County Metro Parks Carlisle Reservation at the Equestrian Center. Please see the "Maps" tab at the top of the home page of this website for a map and directions to the observatory. Please drive carefully, looking for deer on the drive in. Please also park in the parking lot on the right and walk over to the observatory, as parking beside the building is restricted to members unloading telescopes and equipment. We also suggest you dress warmly. We hope to see you there!
