We have Public Observing tonight, Friday June 14, 2013. We will open the Nielsen Observatory to members and to the public to view the night sky from 10:00-12:00 midnight. Come see Saturn with its beautiful rings, star clusters and nebulae through our large telescopes.
We suggest you wear a coat as it will cool off rapidly tonight into the low 60s and upper 50s.
Please do not use white lights near the observatory. We prefer red light flashlights. Please be careful with bright cell phone or tablet screens...if those can be dimmed, we would appreciate it or please step away from the viewing area to use them. We look forward to seeing you tonight!
SUNDAY JUNE 16TH, we will do solar viewing at the MetroParks Sandy Ridge Reservation (Johnson Wetlands Center) from 1:00-4:00PM. Come see our active sun through safe solar telescopes. This event is CLEAR SKIES ONLY. Please see this web site to see if we are cancelled.
