Do you want to see the solar eclipse? Do you need eclipse glasses? The Black River Astronomical Society, in partnership with the Lorain County Metro Parks, is hosting an Eclipse Watch Party. This event will be Monday August 21st, from 2:00-3:00 PM at the Burrell Homestead on East River Road, just a few blocks south of Colorado Avenue in Sheffield Lake. The Burrell Homestead is part of the French Creek Reservation, but is down the road and around the corner from the French Creek Visitors Center.
We will have amateur astronomers there to answer questions, and we will have telescopes with commercially made solar filters for the public to look through. Because the sun will only be 81% covered in Ohio, it is not safe to view with the naked eye. We will sell eclipse glasses for $1.00 each at the event that will enable you to view safely. Sadly, we have no way to sell them prior to the Watch Party. We hope you can join us for this wonderful event!

The purpose of this forum is to provide a place for members of The Black River Astronomical Society to blog, discuss upcoming meetings, cancel meeting, advertise their intent to go to the Nielson, etc. The Black River Astronomical Society has been bringing astronomy to, and serving Lorain County residents continuously since 1949.
