A group of us are going to observe the solar eclipse tonight at the Lorain Pier. This is the pier to the east of the bridge beside the Jackalope Restaurant on Lakeside Ave. which is one block north of Route 6. This is NOT the pier being Lorain City Hall which is in bad shape, this is on the east side of the bridge. I believe the Marina beside the pier is the Spitzer Marina.
Several of us are planning to arrive at 5:00 PM and the eclipse begins at 5:45. Because the pier projects out into the lake, we will be able to observe the sun until it sets. Gary Smith has built a pinhole projection device that should produce an image about a foot and a half across to enable many people to safely observe the eclipse. Feel free to join us.
