We have cancelled Public Observing for Saturday Oct. 5th, 2013 due to rain and clouds.
We have three other opportunities for the public to view the sky this month. On Saturday Oct. 12th, we will participate in INTERNATIONAL OBSERVE THE MOON NIGHT. This event will start at 7:00 PM and will run until 9:00 PM. This is an opportunity to see the moon through powerful telescopes. Our moon is larger than Pluto and can be as close to earth as 225,000 miles so it is an ideal object to view. Please join us.
On Sunday Oct 13th from 1:00-4:00 PM we will do solar observing at the Lorain County MetroParks Wellington Reservation. Come view our active sun through safe solar telescopes.
Friday Oct. 25th is our next Public Observing session at the Nielsen Observatory. This event runs from 8:00-10:00 PM.

The purpose of this forum is to provide a place for members of The Black River Astronomical Society to blog, discuss upcoming meetings, cancel meeting, advertise their intent to go to the Nielson, etc. The Black River Astronomical Society has been bringing astronomy to, and serving Lorain County residents continuously since 1949.
