We have CANCELLED our participation in International Observe the Moon Night. We have clouds coming from the south and more clouds arriving from the west ahead of a cold front. Any glimpses of the moon would seem difficult at best and the National Weather Service Graphical Forecast and the Oberlin Clear Sky Chart both list transparency and seeing as "poor". Thus it seems like the right decision to cancel.
We have solar observing scheduled for tomorrow Oct.13th at the Lorain County Metro Parks Wellington Reservation. The event starts at 1:00 and goes until 4:00 PM. Come see the sun through safe solar telescopes. This is a clear skies only event. This is also our last solar observing session until Spring.
Our next scheduled Public Observing session at the Nielsen Observatory will be Oct. 25th from 8:00-10:00. We hope you can join us.
The purpose of this forum is to provide a place for members of The Black River Astronomical Society to blog, discuss upcoming meetings, cancel meeting, advertise their intent to go to the Nielson, etc. The Black River Astronomical Society has been bringing astronomy to, and serving Lorain County residents continuously since 1949.
