We have cancelled Public Observing for Friday Aug. 30th due to a prediction of "Mostly Cloudy" being made by multiple weather services. In addition, the Oberlin Clear Sky Clock predicts transparency and seeing as below average and poor respectively with a very high dew point adding moisture to the air and suggesting fog coming off the stream below the observatory. The aggregate of all this is that clouds and poor conditions will make for very poor conditions tonight. Sadly, tomorrow looks worse. However, please check back tomorrow to see if he forecast improves.
Our next General Meeting is Wednesday Sept. 4th at 7:00 PM at the Carlisle Visitors Center. The program will be a video on telescopes and binoculars and will be an excellent introduction for someone just getting started in astronomy. As always, the public is invited to attend, and there is no charge.
We also have Solar Observing Sunday September 15th from 1:00-4:00 at the Vermilion River Reservation at Mill Hollow. Join us to see our very active sun through safe solar telescopes
