The purpose of this forum is to provide a place for members of The Black River Astronomical Society to blog, discuss upcoming meetings, cancel meeting, advertise their intent to go to the Nielson, etc. The Black River Astronomical Society has been bringing astronomy to, and serving Lorain County residents continuously since 1949.

Public Observing OPEN Friday 11/5/'21
We are OPEN for Public Observing tonight, Friday November 5, 2021 from 8:00-10:00 PM at the Nielsen Observatory. The observatory is on the Lorain County Metro Parks Carlisle Reservation at the Equestrian Center on Diagonal Road. For directions and a map. click on the "Maps" tab on the home page of this website. November starts the cloudy season in northern Ohio, and tonight looks clear. In November, December, January and February, we only schedule one star party per month due to the weather, so this will be our last public star party until December, and we hope you can join us to enjoy the beauty of the night sky through our large telescopes.
