Public Observing THIS Weekend

We are delighted to announce that our public star parties are back starting this Friday June 18th from 10:00 PM until 12:00 midnight. The Nielsen Observatory is part of the Lorain County Metro Parks Carlisle Reservation at the Equestrian Center. For directions, click on the "Maps" tab on the home page of this website. If it is cloudy or rainy on Friday, we will cancel and try again on Saturday the 19th at the same times. It is a good idea to check the website or our Facebook page to see if we have cancelled before driving to the observatory. Join us to see the wonders of the night sky through our powerful telescopes while club members explain what you are seeing and answer questions. Please park in the parking lot on the right and walk over to the observatory. Parking beside the buildings is restricted to members unloading telescopes and equipment. Aslo, please watch for deer as you drive in. The Metro Parks follow the CDC COVID guidelines, so fully vaccinated people need not mask or distance, although feel free if it makes you more comfortable. Those unvaccinated are asked to wear a mask and distance a little. We hope you can join us! Steve Schauer President
