We are OPEN for Public Observing for tonight Friday Oct. 13, 2017 from 8:00-10:00 PM. We hope you can join us to see golden Saturn and the beauty of the night sky. Please park in the parking lot on the right and walk over to the observatory as parking beside the building is restricted to members unloading telescopes and equipment. Also, please watch for deer on the drive in.
One minor complication: the Metro Parks is holding a huge Halloween event this weekend (and next) at the Carlisle Visitors Center. The traffic on Diagonal Road esp. from the Duck Pond to the Visitors Center will likely be stop and go. It will be easier to come to the observatory at the Equestrian Center, if you approach from the west. Parsons Road will lead to Nickel Plate Diagonal Road, as one easy route. Please see the MAPS tab on the home page of this website for a map and directions to the observatory. We hope you can join us!

The purpose of this forum is to provide a place for members of The Black River Astronomical Society to blog, discuss upcoming meetings, cancel meeting, advertise their intent to go to the Nielson, etc. The Black River Astronomical Society has been bringing astronomy to, and serving Lorain County residents continuously since 1949.
