After a nice run of successful Public Observing events, our run of good weather has ended. We are CANCELING for tonight Fri.6/20, due to rain and heavy clouds predicted by almost all forecasts. Check back tomorrow to see if we will be able to observe Saturday night .
PLEASE NOTE: We have a special event SUNDAY 6/22/'14. We are participating in INTERNATIONAL SUN DAY at Lakeview Park on Lake Rd. just west of Lorain, starting at noon and ending at 9:00 PM. We will have safe solar telescopes set up, and will have a variety of activities to promote understanding of the sun. We will also construct, just for the day, "the world's biggest sundial" down on the beach. This sun dial will be 28 feet long, and from the top of the bank, viewers will almost be able to see the shadow of the sun move as the earth rotates. Please join us! The event is free and open to all.
The purpose of this forum is to provide a place for members of The Black River Astronomical Society to blog, discuss upcoming meetings, cancel meeting, advertise their intent to go to the Nielson, etc. The Black River Astronomical Society has been bringing astronomy to, and serving Lorain County residents continuously since 1949.
