PARTIAL SOLAR ECLIPSE TOMORROW MAY 20,2012

Tomorrow, May 20, 2012, members of the Black River Astronomical Society Solar Observers are going to set up, photograph, and observe the partial annular eclipse from the pier behind the Lorain Marina. People bringing equipment to set up will begin arriving at 5:00 PM. Others, just bringing a camera or themselves will arrive around 7:00 PM.
Please join us for an afternoon of fun and frivolity. We suggest you bring a chair and something to drink. We will be in direct sunlight so an umbrella for shade might be useful.
As always, please exercise caution when solar viewing. NEVER gaze directly at the sun without the proper filters. Damage from infrared and ultraviolet light can damage your vision beyond repair and can even lead to temporary or permanent blindness. If you have questions about how to safely view the sun, please ask one of our experienced solar observers. We will be happy to assist.
Tomorrow's partial eclipse will begin moments before sunset here in Lorain County. We chose the pier in hopes of capturing a nice eclipsed sun in the same field as the Lorain Lighthouse. Please join us.

  1. OK, I googled the location. It is labelled on Google as Spitzer Lakeside Marina, Jackalopa Lakeside and Hot Waters Marina. Evidently, one location, three names. Now, that's what I call important!!!!

    See you there this afternoon!
