Please be advised that the Regular Meeting of the Society, scheduled for Wednesday, February 2nd at 7:00pm at the Carlisle Visitor’s Center has been cancelled due to inclement weather. The National Weather Forecast Office in Cleveland Ohio has issued a SEVERE WEATHER WARNING for our area.
Our Officers feel that our friends and members will be better served remaining in the comforts of their homes tomorrow evening. Len Jezior’s Presentation will be rescheduled for a later date. Thanks for understanding.
Here’s a copy of the Message from Lorain County EMA Director, Tom Kelley:
The following information is from the National Weather Service Forecast Office in Cleveland. Please remember this is a FORECAST based upon computer modeling. It is subject to change at any time.
The second line of the current winter storm will move through the area tonight with a mixed bag of precipitation. Some areas (including Lorain County) could see some areas with ice accumulation of 0.25 -0.50 inch. At 0.50 inches, damage begins to occur with trees and power lines. This will be primarily a sleet/freezing rain/rain event for this area. At this time, snowfall will be minimal (1-2 more inches). The sleet/freezing rain should be in the area by 7PM tonight.
There will be an mass of dry, warmer air that will push into the area around 7AM Wednesday morning, which will stop the precipitation in the area for the time being. Before it does stop, the freezing rain and sleet will switch over to all rain for a short time. Once the low pressure area moves to the east, a wrap around area of snow will develop Wednesday afternoon, but should only bring an inch or two of new snow.
Winds will be mainly be from the northeast 10-20mph. Winds near the lake shore could be locally higher tonight (gusts 30 mph)
