The purpose of this forum is to provide a place for members of The Black River Astronomical Society to blog, discuss upcoming meetings, cancel meeting, advertise their intent to go to the Nielson, etc. The Black River Astronomical Society has been bringing astronomy to, and serving Lorain County residents continuously since 1949.

Public Observing CANCELLED for 8/13/'21
We have been forced to CANCEL Public Observing for Friday August 13, 2021 due to forecasts for heavy cloud cover and thundershowers. The weather for tomorrow looks much better, so we will try again then.
Also tomorrow we are participating in the Lorain County Metro Parks Sunset Beach Festival. This will be held at Lakeview Park in Lorain from 5:00-8:30 on Saturday 8/14. We will have club displays and we will be doing solar viewing. There will be free lessons on kayaking, stand-up paddleboarding, canoeing, there will be live music and a beer tasting tent. We hope you can join us. We will then leave Lorain and druve to the observatory to hold our public star party. Please join us!
