Our next monthly General Meeting is Wednesday, Sept 3, at 7:00 pm at the Lorain County Metroparks Carlisle Visitors Center. The Visitor Center is on Nickel Plate Diagonal Road in Carlisle Township. See the "Maps" tab on this website for the location. The public is always welcome to attend. The meeting will include a monthly calendar that lists things to see in the sky during September, and a "constellation of the month" report that highlights a constellation that is easy to see in September, and discusses what objects are visible within that constellation. We also have a speaker. Our speaker this month is club member Logan Madddock who is speaking on "Atmospheric Phenomena" with an emphasis on ice halos. Please join us!
Public Observing this month is limited to ONE observing session which is Friday Sept. 12th at the Nielsen Observatory. PLEASE NOTE THAT THERE IS NO SATURDAY BACK-UP DATE. If it is cloudy or rainy on the 12th we are simply cancelled, not postponed for 24 hours. This is due to another club obligation on the 13th. Again, see the 'Maps" tab on this website for the location of the observatory (it is down the road from the Visitors Center, at the Equestrian Center, also on Diagonal Road). We hope you can join us
Also, please join us on Sunday Sept. 7 from Noon to 4:00 when we host a table at the LCMP Adventure Fest. This is held at the Mill Hollow/Vermilion River Reservation. We will have information about getting started in Astronomy, information about the club and about telescopes and binoculars, and, if the weather is clear, we may do some solar observing through safe solar telescopes. The Metroparks will have many groups in attendance displaying information about all types of outdoor activities for the entire family to enjoy. We hope to see you there
