Observing Session for Friday, July 30th, 2010 canceled.

Arrow indicates direction of travel

The Public Observing session scheduled for Friday, July 30th, 2010 at The Nielsen Observatory is canceled due to cloudy weather. Current NOAA Weather Radar indicates a large cloud mass closing in on our area from the west/northwest.

See the attached NOAA National Weather Service Satellite image taken at 16:45 EST. The yellow arrow indicates the general direction of travel of the cloud mass.

Stay tuned to this blog to see if we can hold the observing session tomorrow night on our backup date. 

Note that this cloud will not impede our work party set for tomorrow at 7am - 4pm. We will proceed, rain or shine, as there is plenty to do inside the observatory.

Work party participants, please show up at your appointed times. I look forward to seeing you all tomorrow. I will be bringing water bottles and ice. If you prefer something different, please byo beverage. Gatorade is always a good choice. Again, thank you to all who volunteered their time and energy to help us out in sprucing up the observatory.
