BlackRiverAstro, June 2009 Events Schedule

We have a busy schedule set for this weekend. Hopefully the weather will cooperate and provide us with an opportunity to get out of the house and spend some time outdoors in relative comfort.

We have a big day scheduled for Saturday, June 20th. In the morning we will have Solar Viewing at the Avon Lake Library from 10am to 2pm as partof their annual Sun Celebration Day. (This is a rain or shine event)
Then some of us are getting together to attend the Chagrin Valley Astronomical Society's annual OTAA convention. (This is a weather permitting event.) If you want to attend, send me an email and maybe we can work out some carpool plans.

The following weekend, we have a Star Party at the Nielson on June 27th. Follow the signs for the Equestrian Center and look for the Observatory on the left when you arrive at the parking lot. (This is a weather permitting event.)
Before leaving home for any of the weather permitting events, please check this page for cancellation notices.
Also, at this time of year anything can happen weatherwise so don't be fooled by the warmth of the day. Temperatures can fall dramatically after the sun sets, although predictions are not indicating a huge drop tonight. To be on the safe side, bring a sweater, jacket, gloves, cap and coat. Then you can add or subtract layers to fit your personal needs.
The Nielson Observatory is located within the Metroparks system off of Diagonal Road. Follow the signs for the Equestrian Center and look for the Observatory on the left when you arrive at the Equestrian Center parking lot.
The Observatory is manned by the membership of TheBlackRiver Astronomical Society, who have been bringing Amateur Astronomy to Lorain County residents since 1949.
